Someday in 2009,a hacker's attack on a DNspod servicer caused a large area's network breakdown for the reason that a free software with a enormous user group had bound it's domain name on that DNspod servicer,while when the software was working,its backdoor(unknown to users) kept accessing its domain name.Then when the servicer was attacked and brokedown, The accumulation of huge amounts of accessing requests finally paralyse the DNspod servicer.
the DNspod declares that "since our service is free,we can't guarantee high quality of safety and stability.so if you think your domain name is of great importance, take it away form DNspod".that means free service wouldn't take the responsibility when something is wrong with it.
At the same time, the backdoor bound to free software is another main inducement of the incident.free software is easily accepted by a lot people for it is free.however, through this incident,we should take into consideration which to use: free software or charging software? Ok,let's analysis the advantages and disadvantages of charging softwares & freewares.to be more persuasive,we take the example of hot audio-video transform softwares,both of which owns a lot of users:
The free One is DVDVideoSoft, which ranks high in google;the charging one is XlinkSoft.
First,in the aspect of installation, DVDVideoSoft has a dull,rough interface and it will install all kinds of plug-ins while there's a good chance for you to be infected with viruses(thank goodness i have an anti-virus software);on the contrast,XlinkSoft' interface is more compact and easy,none plug-in is bound,so it can be guaranteed in safety.
Second, when DVDVideoSoft is in operation, there are no outstanding UI,the structure of interface is in chaos,buttons there will link to ads,some of which even can't be found!besides,users of DVDVideoSoft have a common opinion that it's function is limited .
some argue since it is free ,don't count on too much.OK! I believe that most users focus on practicability other than functions:the effect in definition transformed by DVDVideoSoft is incomparable to that of XlinkSoft.
In terms of speed,XlinkSoft is much faster than DVDVideoSoft,besides,it reserves the original definition.
The parameter setting before transformation should also be mentioned. the effect can't can't be user-defined since DVDVideoSoft's parameters are fixed;however, XlinkSoft has a big and humanistic parameter system which enables users to define a lot things in order to get satisfying videos
Balancing advantages and disadvantages of all aspects,i believe that you will uninstall those free softwares in your computer without hesitation.they are like time bomb beyond your control.who knows when and how they will induce another vicious accident like this!(the large area's network breakdown resulted from paralysis of DNspod servicer )
